exploration of the unknown - ambience of the sublime?

The presentation of space and it's importance for our ability to function (visually) has been explored through the defining of shadows. A key tool in presenting a 3D object, however perspective has aided the possibility to present and display depth. With the photo's taken "exploration of the unknown," (a flash used on a deserted beach at night giving a faded outlook into darkness,) the lack of perspective and shadows leaves the viewer to a define horror of isolation, a trait of "The Sublime." The use of darkness as a material put's the viewer often in an uncomfortable environment which in turn provokes the thought of self reflection. How we deal with situations and what our limitations are.
